I can’t read music, is that a problem?
Not at all - no prior musical experience or knowledge is needed before our first lesson. I
always teach students how to read music no matter what genre we explore as it's a great life
skill to acquire, but we will also work a lot without music to help train your musical ear.

Do you put students through exams?
Yes, for those who want to do exams, my pass rate for practical and performance exams is
100%. I put my students through the ABRSM exam board. Equally, if a student is not
interested in exams that is absolutely fine with me.
I enjoyed doing my exams back in the day. I liked having something to work towards and
getting the sense of achievement from completing the exam.

I’m worried it’s too late for me to learn or it’ll be too difficult.
The most important thing is that you enjoy the lessons and your time at the piano. Every
student learns in different ways, and I don’t have one set approach for everyone. My lessons
are structured to each individual student. I pride myself in being very patient and I enjoy
helping my students reach their goals and enjoy playing. I have many students who have
retired and fancy a new hobby and I think that’s brilliant. It really is never too late.
